Uber's Advanced Technology Group, UATG, a leader in autonomous vehicle development, aimed to centralize its Pittsburgh operations into a single Test Track Proving Grounds. This facility will include offices, amenity spaces, garages, mechanic shops, a test track, and a control tower.

The new UATG Proving Ground will feature flexible structures connected by a central spine, ‘Uber Avenue,’ facilitating seamless movement between areas. The design ensures strong visual and physical connections between workspaces, testing areas, and the exterior landscape, maintaining visual access to the test track from all relevant spaces.

The operational garage is a key component, with preliminary plans for data connection and vehicle charging. Gardens and outdoor work areas will be integrated between structures, with building offsets creating a comfortable microclimate by diverting wind and providing shade.

Sustainability is a core focus, aiming for self-sufficiency while exploring ways to reduce utility costs and impacts. The facility will support a collaborative environment and reinforce that every Uber employee is essential to achieving the common goal.
