Post Gazette Building
Downtown, Pittsburgh, PA
Status: Un-Built
Building Type: Mixed-Use
Area: 390,000 SF
This project represents a significant addition to Downtown at a highly visible location. It involves constructing a new office building within and above the base of the former Post-Gazette Building, situated at the corner of the Boulevard of the Allies and Stanwix Street. The new building will consist of eight stories, including the original four stories of the Post-Gazette.

The existing Post-Gazette building will be restored from an unfortunate 'modernization' in the sixties to become a new Class A office facility. The brick façade of the base building will be reconstructed, while the tower addition will feature sympathetic brick detailing compatible with the original design. Indoor parking will be provided on the lower floors of the existing building to serve the new office spaces.

Phase II proposes a new twenty-four-story office tower, including monumental stairs leading to an elevated plaza. The overall project will serve as a prominent anchor at the corner of Downtown, offering spectacular views over Point State Park and the surrounding river valleys.
