When 3M acquired Pittsburgh’s M-Modal, they sought a new headquarters to establish a distinct local identity for their Health Information Systems Division. Rockwell Park was chosen for its alignment with 3M’s goal of locating in Pittsburgh’s tech-centric East Side.

The choice was influenced by Rockwell Park’s unique sawtooth addition, which reflects the site’s industrial heritage while meeting 3M’s modern needs. This design feature not only honors the area’s history but also enhances functionality, with north-facing skylights that provide natural daylight and improve energy efficiency.
