23 Penn

Strip District, Pittsburgh, PA

Status: Un-Built

Building Type: Condominium

Area: 50,000 SF

Located in the heart of the rapidly growing Strip District, 23 Penn is a residential condominium project that combines new ground-up construction with the existing building's structure on site. The project features a reclad facade seamlessly integrated with the new construction, resulting in a dynamic assembly of floor-to-ceiling glazing, masonry banding, and horizontal metal paneling.

The design includes enclosed structured parking on the ground level, followed by seven floors of residential condominiums. Many units offer unobstructed views of downtown Pittsburgh and Lawrenceville, with integral patios and balconies enhancing the living experience.

The building emphasizes its height through the use of double-height masonry banding, which is infilled with large-scale aluminum frame windows. The top floor is set back and features full-height glazing, creating a striking "lantern" effect that caps the structure and enhances its presence on the skyline. This thoughtful design not only complements the surrounding urban fabric but also provides residents with a modern, high-quality living environment.
